Sarah was baptised on 3 April 1825 in St Chad's, Rochdale, Lancashire, England. She was the daughter of James Kay and Elizabeth (Law) Kay.
When Sarah was about 27 she married Emanuel Wilde in 1842 in Rochdale District, Lancashire. The couple had one child: Samuel Wilde.
