Obituaries And Funerals
Mr. H. P. Keach
REPRESENTATIVES of many sporting organisations and business houses were among the large number of people who attended the funeral of well-known Cressy pastoralist and racehorse owner, Mr. Herbert Percy Keach. Mr. Keach, who was found dead in his room at his home, Bluegong, Cressy, on Tuesday, was buried in the Church of England Cemetery, Ross, on Thursday. The service was conducted by the Rev. L. E. Dando and was followed by an R.S.L. service conducted by Mr. B. Clennett. Chief mourners were Mr. Keach's widow; son, Anthony: father, Mr. G. H. Keach, of Chiswick, Ross; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Keach, Roseneath, Ross; brothers-in-law, Messrs. H. Gillett, Wetmore, Ross, R. Mackinnon, Mountford, Longford, and R. T. Brown, Ellenthorpe, Ross. Pallbearers were Drs. H. Ramsay, T. Hogg and the Minister for Health (Dr. Turnbull), Messrs. T. A. Gatenby, F. Bowling, F. Dowling and W. R. Menzies. Represented at the funeral were members of the 2/3 Machine Gun Battalion, the Newnham Racing Club and the Tasmanian Racing Club, woolbroking firms and other business organisations. The Warden of Ross (Mr. A. Dowling) represented the municipality.
