Allan Victor Keating was born in 1943 in Saint John, St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Frank Levi Keating (1903–1974) and Edna Gertrude Byers (1909–2005).
His siblings were:

- Edna Bernice Keating (1944–2015)
Allan married H. Jean Carson (born on March 29, 1949 in Saint John; daughter of Roy William Carson and Garda Catherine (Marshall) Carson).
Allan died on January 14, 2023 in Saint John, aged 79. He was buried in Riverbank Community Cemetery, Riverbank, Kings County, New Brunswick.[1]
