Robert Kedington was a son of Giles Kedington of Tivetshall, Norfolk. According to his record at Caius College Cambridge, he was born there about 1616. He was admitted at age 18 on 20 March 1634/5, but there is no record of his attaining a degree. [1]
Robert Kedington married twice, first apparently to Mary (Browning) on 3 January 1637 at Denton, Norfolk. [2] This marriage produced a son Giles, who was baptised at Rushford Norfolk on 8 November 1642.[3][1] This son entered Caius College in 1657 and died in 1678. Daughters of the marriage were: Mary, baptised at Rushford on 8 November 1638 [4] and Dorythie, baptised 23 June 1640. [5]
Mary "the Wyfe of Robert Kedington" was buried at Rushford on 3 July 1643. [6]
Robert married secondly to Philippa, daughter of Bacqueville Bacon, on 9 February 1646/7.[7][8] The marriage produced a son Henry, baptised 14 March 1655/6, [9] who succeeded to the Great Hockham estate after the death of his mother.
Robert Kedington died on 28 March 1667 and was buried on 3 April at Holy Trinity Church of Hockham, where his memorial inscription reads: "Here lyeth the body of Robert Kedington of Great Hockham, in the County of Norff. Esq; who took to Wife Philipa, the second Daughter of Bacquevill Bacon, Esq; Sister and Coheir of Henry Bacon, Esq; he departed this Life the 28 Day of March Anno Dni: 1667." [8][14][15]
