The daughter of Richard Kempton and Charlotte Wemmer, Cora was born on 29 Nov 1878 in Trimble, Athens County, Ohio.

She passed away 10 Jan 1959 in Athens County, Ohio and is buried in Maplewood Cemetery located in Glouster, Athens County, Ohio. [1]

Marriages and Children

(1) John Davis (b. 1870, d. 1850), m. 15 Mar 1896 in Athens County, Ohio. Their children:

  1. Walter Dewey Davis
  2. Elmer Dow Davis

(2) John Riley Antle (b. 1877, d. 1972), m. 6 Mar 1953 in Athens County, Ohio. No issue.

Obituary

"GLOUSTER--Mrs. Cora Davis Antle, 80, of Jacksonville, died Saturday morning at Mount St. Mary Hospital, Nelsonville++ [Ohio], following a long illness.

She was born in 1878 at Greens Run, daughter of Richard and Charlotte Kempton. She lived all her life in this area.

She was a member of Taylor Ridge Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid of that church.

She is survived by her husband, John Antle; one son, Elmer Davis of Jacksonville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren." [2]

Research Notes

  1. ++ Mount St. Mary Hospital in Nelsonville, Ohio, which first opened its doors in April 1950, was originally founded and staffed by the Sisters of St. Francis.[3] In June1980, Doctors Hospital Columbus acquired Mount St. Mary Hospital and changed its name to Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville. [4] In 1998, OhioHealth acquired Doctors Hospitals including Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville. [5] In June 2017, OhioHealth transferred ownership to Integrated Services, a behavioral health organization, and the hospital was renamed Mary Hill Center of Nelsonville. [6]
