Biography
Elizabeth was born in Nelson County, Virginia in about 1822 according to the 1850 U.S. Census [1] and in 1825 according to the 1860 census. [2] On a death record for Betsy Kesterson, her birth year was recorded as 1830 however, no image of the original document was provided. She was the daughter of Benjamin Kesterson and Elizabeth Wood. [3][4]
She was likely one of the females age 5-9 in her father's household at Southern District, Augusta County Virginia in 1830. [5]
In 1840 she was likely the daughter age 15-19 in her father's household at Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia in 1840. [6]
She was living with her parents and six siblings at District 2 1/2, Augusta County, Virginia in 1850. She was recorded as 28 years old. [1]
In 1860 she was living with father and three siblings at Staunton, Augusta County. She was recorded as Bettie A. Kesterson age 35. Robert Grass and James Desper were also living in the household. [2]
She was recorded as the informant on her brother Jeremiah Kesterson's death record in 1877. [7]
She died on 12 September 1878 at Augusta County. [3]
