Biography

Elizabeth Jean "Betty" (Kestler) Hopkins was born in 1925 in Osgood, Indiana, the daughter of Earnest Lawrence Kestler (1896–1948) and Elizabeth B. (Wagner) Kestler (1899–1977).

In 1959, Betty married Lester Harper Hopkins MD (1898-1974) in Indiana. They had no children.

Betty passed away in Port Charlotte, Florida at age 83 in 2009.

Obituary: "Betty K. Hopkins, 83 of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Versailles, passed away January 15, 2009 at the Peach River Regional Hospital in Port Charlotte. She was married to Dr. Lester Hopkins in 1959 and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1974. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Ann Miller of Osgood; one niece, Sherron Miller Bultman of Port Charlotte; two great-nephews, Curtis Schmidt of Prospect, Kentucky and Dennis Bultman of Madison; one great-niece, Tracey Holmes of Lawrenceburg; three great-great nephews, Daniel and Phillip Schmidt and Taylor Holmes; one great-great niece Allie Holmes. She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece Bonita Miller Schmidt. Mrs. Hopkins was a retired bookkeeper having worked with her husband at their medical practice in Versailles. She had also been a medical bookkeeper in Florida along with former employment with the US government, Wright-Patterson AFB, and the Nestle Plant in Osgood. Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home of Versailles was in charge of arrangements.

Betty was the daughter of Ernest Lawrence and Elizabeth Wagner Kestler."
