Biography

Emilie was born as daughter of Peter Christian Kieckbusch and his wife Anna Elisabeth Klopp in Ahrensbök (currently: Kreis Ostholstein, Schleswig-Holstein).[1]

In 1878 she emigrated to America on board of the ship SS Wieland as a cabin passenger. She arrived in New York on 10 September 1878.[2]

On 24 April 1889 she married the tailor Joseph Schindler from Baden.[3]

After Joseph's death on 13 February 1923,[4] she went back to Germany, probably on the Albert Ballin from New York to Hamburg in 1926.[5]

She died in Lübeck on 3 September 1931.[6] After being cremated there on 8 September, she was also buried there on 21 September 1931.[7]

Research notes

  • People from census?
  • Saw some traces of a Henry Kiekbusch, who might have come over before her and might have been her brother Johann Heinrich Kieckbusch. Unfortunately I don't find him anymore. --Straub-620 15:11, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
