William was born in autumn 1862, the first child of Thomas Kilgour and Susan Jackson.
Siblings Margaret, Jane and Thomas were born prior to the 1871 census, which found the family of four living at 13 Hallside Street in Glasgow. This was followed by sisters Annie and Susan, then brothers James (who died in infancy), John and Robert. The 1881 census found the family of nine (sans Robert) living at Glasgow's 100 Noburn Street.
Two more siblings were added to the family: Helen and James. The family at 6 Caledonia Road in Glasgow consisted of ten in the 1891 census; brother Thomas had died in 1887 and eldest sister Margaret had just married off. William continued living with his parents, with the 1901 census including three other siblings and niece Susan Graham at 39 Dunmore Street, Glasgow. William's employment was listed as spirit salesman.
At age 44 in late 1906, William married 37-year-old Mary McHugh.[1]
The pair lived at 12 Rose Street in the Glasgow area of Govan as of the 1911 census. Wife Mary passed away in 1913.
William Jackson Kilgour passed away in autumn 1917.[2]
