Biography

Birth 4th of 6 children of Joseph Kinkaid and Matilda McCarron born in County Tyrone, Ireland in 1859. ^[1].

Andrew Kinkaid was born in Ireland.

He arrived in Victoria in Feb 1865 aged 4, travelling with his parents and siblings. Sadly his mother Matilda, and 2 younger brothers - the youngest an infant - died during the voyage. ^[2]

He lived with his surviving siblings with his mothers family, and after his father Andrew purchased a settlement block in Kialla Victoria in 1871, worked with his father on that land.

His father Joseph passed away in 1878 when Andrew was 18. After that, and the sale of the property, Andrew took a job on the railways.

Andrew (27) married Plazzy Bedinfield (Ransom) Kinkaid (19) (born about 1867 in Fryers Creek, Victoria, Australia; daughter of John Ellis Ransom) on 28 Feb 1887 in Castlemaine, Victoria. ^[3]
