Hans Theobald Künzer was born 3 Oct 1662, in Asweiler, Sankt Wendel, Saarland, Germany. He was the son of Bernhard Kuntzer (1634-1720) and Anna Apollonia (1641-1701). Hans married Maria Margaret Baum (1661–1720) 16 Oct 1683.

Previous profiles for this person, now merged suggested a birth and/or death location to be Valley, Miesbach, Bayern, Germany. This is unlikely to be correct, as most immigrants to Pennsylvania from this time period originated in the Palatinate (which is not Bavaria). The malpractice of assigning "Bayern" for Palatine immigrants is quite common on secondary sourced trees such as those found on Ancestry, MyHeritage, etc. By contrast, the location of Asweiler, Sankt Wendel, Saarland, Germany is a hotspot for Palatine immigrants from this time period, and it can be assumed both that this is correct for this person and his children. It is also extremely unlikely that the family moved from Saarland to Bavaria prior to immigrating to America.
