From Cutler's History of the State of Kansas:

SAMUEL KIRCHNER, farmer, Section 33, P. O. Willow Springs, was born in Cape Vincent, N. Y., January 4, 1857, and when five years of age he moved with his parents to St. Paul, Minn., where he lived seven years, and then came to Kansas in 1869; settled in Willow Springs Township, where he has since resided. Mr. K. was united in marriage in Lawrence, Kan. May 21, 1878, to Miss Vernellia A., daughter of Harrison Crites; they have one child - Henry H. [1]
