Lillian Dorothy Avery Knabe was born on November 21, 1909, in Pulaski, Arkansas, her father, George, was 26, and her mother, Martha, was 21. She married Herman George Avery on April 21, 1928, in Pulaski, Arkansas. They had one child during their marriage. She died on September 25, 1987, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 77, and was buried in Alexander, Arkansas.
