James Knerr
James Monroe Knerr of Pitman died at the Good Samaritan Hospital on Tuesday morning. He was admitted to the hospital as a medical patient last Saturday.
Mr. Knerr was born in Tremont, June 25, 1899, the son of the late James M. and Emma (Smith) Knerr. He was a butcher but has been retired for about 10 years. He was married to the former Katie Hepler, who died in 1970.
Knerr was a member of the Hepler Church of God; a member of the Mahantongo Fire Company.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lauretta McCann of Eddystone; Mrs. Jean Boothroyd, at home; two brothers, Charles and Stuart, both of Pitman; six sisters, Zeno Thomas, Mrs. Minnie Yoder, Mrs. Ida K. Wells, Mrs. Mary Gerhart, Mrs. Pearl Broscious, all of Pitman and Mrs. Sue Saul, of Hazleton; one grandson, and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at the Hepler Church Thursday at 2 pm. His pastor, the Rev. James Smare will officiate. Interment will be in the Hepler Church of God Cemetery. The Buffington Funeral Home, of Valley View has charge.
