On September 12, 1953, she married James Bauer, who after 54 years of marriage, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Brenda Bowlby (Tim), Donald (Toad), Linda Hall and Diana (Fred Zimmerman) Bauer, all of South Bend. Also surviving are four grandsons, Jeffery Bauer of Westerville, OH, Samuel and Aaron Bauer and Michael Hall; three granddaughters, Elizabeth and Bridget Bauer and Jessica Hall; and one great grandson, Caden Bauer. She is also survived by her "best friend and canine companion", Sadie.

Sharon was an avid bowler and a member of WIBC for over 30 years. She was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1999 for emeritus service. She was a sports enthusiast, especially during playoffs. She loved Notre Dame football and was a big fan of NASCAR racing. She loved tending to her vegetable and beautiful perennial flower gardens. Sharon was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary #1167.
