Hermann Henry Christian Kurth was born on 15 February 1878 in Bethania, Colony of Queensland, son of Christian Friedrich Kurth (1839–~1905) and Marie Magdalena Fien (~1851–1935).^[1]

He married Mary Rebecca Jensen on 16 August 1904 ^[2] and his known children were:

• Elizabeth Kurth (unknown – unknown)
• Edith Ellen Kurth (10 November 1908 – ~2006)
• Harry Edward Kurth (1924-2007)

Hermann died on 11 October 1954 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, aged 76.^{[3] [4]}
