LAMB, Walter A. Walter A. Lamb, 86, husband of the late Anna (Pedace) Lamb, formerly of McKinley Ave., Norwich, died Tuesday evening, (January 4, 2005) at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. Born in New London on February 18, 1918, he was the son of the late Anning Lamb and the late Anna (Kukla) (Lamb) Bourne. He retired as superintendent of the Gas Department of Norwich, Department of Public Utilities, and then served for a number of years as a sheriff in the Norwich Court System. Walter graduated from Norwich Free Academy, Class of 1936, where he excelled in baseball, and was a member of their championship team. A member of the Duwell Club, he was best known for his humorous personality. On November 23, 1942 at St. Mary Church in Norwich, he was united in marriage to Anna (Pedace) Lamb who died October 3, 2000. He was also predeceased by a grandson Christopher Vitagliano. Surviving is a son, Walter J. "Wally" Lamb and his wife Christine of Mansfield; two daughters, Vita Ehlers and her husband William of Loveland, OH, and Gail Vitagliano and her husband Paul Butsch of Norwich; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Jason and Megan Ehlers, Patrick Jr. and Michael Vitagliano, and Jared, Justin and Teddy Lamb; a sister, Shirley Eliasson and her husband Robert of Preston; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, where the funeral will assemble on Saturday at 8 a.m. and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of St. Patrick at 9 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Joseph Living Center, 14 Club Road, Windham, CT 06280.
