American Revolution - soldier
Birthdate traditionally given as Mar.9,1766. This fits with the 1850 and 1860 censuses, which give his ages as 85 and 95, as well as with his attempt to obtain a pension, ca.1862, where age also given as 95. The pension application mentions the loss, by fire, of family bible with birth records and other documents relating to his service at his former home in Kentucky.
Married Mary Nuttall, abt 1785.
Known children:
Jemima Lamb, (1786 - 1848), md Richard Batts
Maryland Nuttall Lamb, (1796 - 1885), md Peter Hamilton Vories; md. Edwin Foree
Lucretia Lamb, md Jacob Sutherland
Frances Lamb, (abt.1808 - 1883), md Alexander Cropper
Living in Indianapolis with family of daughter "Fanny" (Lamb) Cropper by 1860.
He was probably originally buried in the long ago destroyed Greenlawn Cemetery, in
Indianapolis. But the loss of burial records and destruction of headstones, etc., which
eventually led to the abandonment of that cemetery makes it basically impossible to
know where his remains were removed to, or if they still lay unmarked and buried in
the former location of that cemetery. His daughter Frances and her family were later
to be buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, which was not established until after Jacob died.
There is no record, so far, to suggest Jacob's remains were removed to that location.
