Charles Lambart was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Biography

Charles Lambart, 1st Earl of the County of Cavan was born about 1600. He was the son of Oliver Lambart, 1st Lord Lambart, Baron of Cavan and Hester Fleetwood.

Upon the death of his father he succeeded as the 2nd Lord Lambart, Baron of Cavan, co. Cavan [I., 1618] in June 1618.

Charles married Jane Robartes (daughter of Richard Robartes, 1st Baron Robartes of Truro, Cornwall and Frances Hender) circa 1625.

They had the following children;

Richard Lambart, 2nd Earl of the County of Cavan (b. c 1628, d. b May 1691)
Hon. Oliver Lambart (d. 13 Dec 1700)
Lady Rose Lambart
Lady Hester Lambart (d. 1740)

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bossiney, Cornwall, England in 1626 and held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bossiney from 1628 to 1629.

He held the office of Seneschal of the County Cavan and Kells in 1627.

Charles was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) Ireland.

He was commander of the forces of Dublin in 1642 helping to suppress the 1641 Uprising with a 1000 strong infantry regiment. He was subsequently the commander of the forces guarding Dublin on behalf of Charles I in 1642.

He was created 1st Viscount Kilcoursie, in the King's County [Ireland] and was created 1st Earl of the County of Cavan [Ireland] on 1 April 1647.

He died on 25 June 1660 and was succeeded in his titles by his eldest son, Richard.

His will (dated 15 February 1659) was proven (by probate) on 28 June 1660 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.

4 July 1660 - St. Paul's Cathedral, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland[1]
