Marie Landry was baptized on January 23, 1878, the daughter of the unmarried Sylvie Landry. Her godparents were Jean Leblanc and Obeline Landry.[1]
In October 1879, her mother Sylvie married Fidele Williams. Marie appeared in the 1881 census under the name "M. Ellena Williams", age 3.[2]
In September 1886, her mother married for a second time to John Whalen, after her first husband passed away. Marie appeared in the 1891 census under the name "Mary Whalen", age 13.[3]
