Notes: Notes from Hugo Ehlers: Marie Lange died shortly after the birth of her daughter Frances. Frances was then adopted by Walter and Caroline (Lange) Johannsen. Marie and Caroline were sisters.

Obituary for Marie Lange: The life of another young mother, that of Mrs. Marie Ehlers, 23 years old, 1230 Esplanade avenue, has been added to the roll of those claimed by influenza and pneumonia. Mrs. Ehlers died at Davenport hospital Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. She leaves a baby daughter, Frances Marie, who was born at the hospital two weeks ago. Mrs. Ehlers developed pneumonia nine days ago, and in her weakened condition, was unable to combat the disease. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Fred Ehlers, two children, Melvin and Frances, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lange, two brothers, William and Otto Lange, and four sisters, Mrs. Frieda Hauschildt of Minnesota; Mrs. Anna Hauschildt of Tipton, IA.; Mrs. Caroline Johannsen, Davenport and Mrs. Bertha Ehlers of LeClaire, IA. Miss Marie Lange was born in Lowden, IA., Aug. 18, 1897. The family farmed in the LeClaire and Pleasant Valley community for a number of years, having but recently moved to Davenport. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of her parents. Burial will be made in Fairmount. (Democrat, 2111920, Wednesday)

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Ehlers were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lange, 1843 West Seventh street with services following at Trinity Lutheran church. Rev. Harms officiated. The following relatives acted as pallbearers: Otto and William Lange, John and Oscar Kruse, Herman Ehlers and William Johannsen. Burial was made at Fairmount cemetery.
