Biography
Jonathan was born on 8 September 1831 and baptized on 9 October 1831 in Didsbury, Lancashire, the son of John Langford and Maria.[1] Their family lived in Manchester, Lancashire, England.[2] In 1851, Jonathan (19), was an apprentice gardener and living in Withington, Lancashire with his parents and siblings.[3]
Jonathan married Alice Chorlton in St Paul, Withington, Lancashire[4] on 25 Jan 1855.[5] Their children were:
- William Langford, born about 1855[6][7]
- Sarah Langford, born about 1858[8]
- Alice Chorlton Langford, born about 1860[9]
- Samuel Langford, born about 1862[10][11]
- Maria Langford, born about 1864[12]
- Mary Elizabeth Langford, born about 1866[13]
- Thomas Chorlton Langford, born about 1870[14]
Their family continued to live in Withington; Jonathan was a farmer,[6] gardener[15] and nurseryman.[16][17][18]
Jonathan's death (age 79) was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1911 in the Chorlton district.[19]
