Charles was born 3 (or 8) April 1830 at Ballinasloe. He is the son of Thomas Edmund Langley and Annie Fridzwise Seymour (Seymons). [1]
NB Mother's surname is Seymour NOT Seymons. For instance "CHARLES SEYMOUR LANGLEY, 1855-56, son of Thomas E. Langley, Esq., by his wife Fridzwide Seymour, was b. at Ballinasloe, April 8, 1830."[2]

He was subsequently appointed a Canon of Cloyne Cathedral, and a Rural Dean. i.e. Preb. of Ballyhea, in St Colman's Cathedral, Cloyne[5] [6]
While at Kilworth Charles undertook restoration and improvemtns of the CoI church (now The Village Arts Centre, Kilworth, County Cork):
"This church, built in the 1720s on the site of an earlier church, was considerably altered and repaired in 1885. The chancel, stained-glass windows and spire were added at this time and the renovations were undertaken by Rev. Charles Seymour Langley who was rector of the parish at the time. It makes a notable addition to the main square of the town."[7]
Rev. C. S. Langley married Miss Maria Aston (daughter of David Aston, Esq., M.D., of Dublin, and of his wife Maria Catharine, dau. of R. Watkins, Esq., of Prospect House, Roebuck) 30 Sep 1854 at Abbeyleix, Queens, Ireland.[8] [9]
They had 3 children:
Canon Langley died 9 April 1885 aged 55 years.[13]

NB Charles could be connected to the Tipperary Langleys of Ballyduff, Brittas Castle, Archertown etc & therefore distant cousin to the first two Bishops of Bendigo, Victoria- brothers Henry Archdall Langley & John Douse Langley.
