Biography

Birth and Origins

Charles Henry Langley of Lisnamrock and afterwards of Coalbrook, Esq., was the eldest son of Henry Langley of Lisnamrock, Esq. and Frances Jackson. He was born around 1771 [1]

Marriage and Family

Charles Henry married Frances Bagwell, (b circa 1766 daughter of Colonel Bagwell of Kilmore, Co TIP, d. Sept 1846) in 1794, Waterford, Ireland[1] [2] [3]

  • Henry Langley b. 1797 d.1860 (his heir)

Coalbrook

Barrylingarry or Gare, parish in the barony of Slievadagh, county of Tipperary, province of Munster, 5 miles (E by N) from Killenaule, situated in the southern portion of the great coal mine of Slievadagh.

One of the principal seats of the area include Coalbrook 'that of H. Langley. a handsome residence.' and 'The collieries on the estate of Coalbrook have been worked on a judicious plan and with great success by the late proprietor, the late Charles Langley, Esq., for the last 30 years and are still carried on in similar manner by its present proprietor [in 1837] [5]

Death

He died at Ballingarry, Sept 1831 [1]

He died on 10 Apr. 1831 according to Burke's Irish Family Records.

His wife Frances was a daughter of John Bagwell of Kilmore and Lisronagh, and his wife Frances née Lowe.

She died 31 May 1846 aged 74, according to the announcement in Freeman's Journal, which puts her birth in 1771-72.

Miscellanea Genealogica et Heraldica, second series, vol. III, says she was born 1772.
