Biography

It seems possible Hannah was in the Ogden household, aged 17, in 1850 in Franklin Township, Gloucester, New Jersey.[1]

Joseph married Hannah Lashly on 20 Dec 1851 in Gloucester County, New Jersey[2] or Hannah Lachly[3] Note that neither of these records appears in the Archives' searchable database of Marriages 1848-1878

They were married by "Abraham Gearhart, Minister of Gospel." In 1851, Gearhart did not have a parish but was a circuit minister in the Methodist Church.

Joseph and Hannah had a daughter, Ann Eliza "Annie" Stratton Butler, in 1852.[4]

Hannah had died by 1854 when Joseph remarried.

Research Notes

Parents could be Josiah Lashley (3 Aug 1809-16 Jul 1861) and Catherine (Unknown) Lashley (15 Mar 1809-30 Jul 1863). There is an unsourced Ancestry tree where this couple has a daughter Hannah Lashley b. 1833. They were from Deptford and Franklin, Gloucester.

On the 1850 census when Hannah was a 17 yo in the home of William Ogden, the neighboring family is John Lashley Sr (age 70) and Margaret (age 70). There are several other Lashley households in Franklin this year, including Josiah.
