Biography

Paul Beilby Lawley-Thompson, 1st Baron Wenlock was the son of Sir Robert Lawley, 5th Bt. and Jane Thompson.1 He married Hon. Caroline Neville, daughter of Richard Griffin, 2nd Lord Braybrooke, Baron of Braybrooke and Catherine Grenville, on 10 May 1817.1 He died on 9 May 1852.1 He was given the name of Paul Beilby Lawley at birth.1 On 27 September 1820 his name was legally changed to Paul Beilby Thompson by Royal Licence.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Baronet Lawley, of Spoonhill, Shropshire [E., 1641] on 30 January 1831.1 He was created 1st Baron Wenlock, of Wenlock, co. Shropshire [U.K.] on 13 May 1839.1 On 1 June 1839 his name was legally changed to Paul Beilby Lawley-Thompson by Royal Licence
