Biography
James was born in 1850[1] and baptised on 14 January 1852 in Blyton, Pilham, Lincs. He was the youngest of the eight children of John Lawrence and Mary (Rumford) Lawrence.[2]. Sadly his father died when he was one year old.
When James was 24 he married Mary Ann Scott in about December 1874 in Guisborough, N. Yorks. [3]. The couple had one child: James Henry Lawrence.
Over the years he worked as a Horse Driver and a Market Gardener in Yorkshire
