Biography

James was born about 1709, probably the son of James Ledlie and Isabel Darragh of Carnan townland in the parish of Arboe, county Tyrone, Ireland.[1]

  • The estimated year of birth is based on birth order, James' elder brothers including William (born c.1705) and John (born c.1707); subject to:
  • Family historian, Ledlie Irwin Laughlin (1888–1977), wrote, "It seems all but certain that a James Ledlie who lived at Dromore, Arboe Parish, was also a son of James and Isabel."
