William Lee was privately christened on 5 Feb 1837 in Alresford, Essex, the son of Robert and Mary Lee. His father was a labourer of Elmstead.
By March 30th 1851, he was employed as a servant in Wivenhoe, Essex.
William married Mary Ann Bell on 29 May 1859 in Essex.
Their son Charles William Lee was born in 1859 in Wivenhoe, Essex.
By April 7th 1861, William's wife and child were living in Bishopwearmouth, County Durham; she was described as a seaman's wife, and William wasn't in the household on census night.
By April 2nd 1871, William's wife and child were with her parents in Wivenhoe; her marital status is unclear.
William presumably died before 22 Nov 1873, when his wife remarried.
William has been assumed to be the one William Lee found living in Wivenhoe - Mary's home - in the 1851 census. It would be good if further confirmation that he's the correct William Lee could be found - for example by comparing the father's occupation in the marriage record with that in the baptism record.
