He is the second of two sons named Johannes in this family. His older brother Johannes was 11 years older than he was. As of the 1834 census, they were still living in the same household. It's possible the census taker inadvertantly changed Johann to Johannes for one of the names With numerous Johanns and Johannes in the family at one time, names could be confusing for an outsider who spent only a short amount of time obtaining the family's vital information.
