Frances Ahrens, 92, formerly of Marathon, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1987, in a Wausau nursing home. The former Frances Lindner was born Aug. 20, 1895, in the town of Hull, daughter of Frank and Katherine Lindner. She married Walter Ahrens, Sept. 20, 1916, in Colby. He died in 1962. The couple operated a dairy farm in the town of Cassel for many years. She was a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Marathon, and its Ladies Aide. Survivors include three daughters, Laura Leibers, Wausau, Mrs. Joe (Adeline) Moser, Marathon, and Mrs. Harvey (Dorothy) Woller, Merrill; two sons, Ervin, Mosinee, and Henry, Marathon; four half-sisters, Anna Strathmann, Liz Lindner, Clara Schwartz and Molly Codying; two half-brothers, Charlie and Lowie Lindner; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A brother, three sisters, a step-brother and four step-sisters, died earlier. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Marathon. The Rev. Ronald Andresen will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, where there will be a scripture service at 8 p.m. today. There will be visitation at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
