Thomas was born on the 11 January 1865, at 2.15 am, in the Hamlet of Bridgend, northwest of the Village of Ceres, in the Parish of Cupar, Fife, Scotland[1]. His mother is Agnes Mitchell and Blacksmith, Archibald (Lindsay) was reputed to have been his father. As a consequence, Thomas used the surname of "Lindsay" throughout his life, with "Mitchell" as his middle name.
Thomas (Mitchell/Lindsay) marries Georgina (Gordon) on the 15 June 1888 in the Hamlet of Crookness (West Ness), east of the Village of Jamestown, and south of the Town of Interkeithing, Parish of Inverkeithing, in Fife, Scotland.

On the night of the Census Record of 1871, Thomas is residing with his grandparents Thomas (Mitchell) and Margaret (Philp); his mother Agnes (Mitchell); aunts, Isabella and Betsy "Elizabeth" (Mitchell); uncles, Michael and Alexander (Mitchell); and cousin, David S (Mitchell). They live in the Hamlet of Bridgend, northwest of the Village of Ceres, in the Parish of Cupar, Fife, Scotland. His surname, on the Census Record, is transcribed as "Lindsay"[3]. However, by 1881, he is out of the family home and working for Farmer of 75 acres, Thomas (Henderson); Thomas' wife, Mary P. (Henderson); Mary's mother, Elizabeth (McReath of McKeath) and Thomas and Mary's daughter, Elizabeth (Henderson). They reside in the Hamlet of Craighall Mains, southeast of the Village of Ceres, in the Parish of Ceres, Fife, Scotland[4].
With his marriage in 1888, Thomas is living in the Hamlet of Crookness (West Ness), east of the Village of Jamestown, and south of the Town of Interkeithing, Parish of Inverkeithing, in Fife, Scotland. However, on the night of the Census of 1891, he is not with his wife Georgina (Gordon) but instead is lodging with Coal Miner, George (Campbell); his wife Elizabeth and their children Archibald, Betsy, James and David (Campbell). Their address is High Street, in the settlement of Beath, Beath District, 5 miles east northeast of the City of Dunfermline, West Fife, Scotland[5]. Thomas is back living with wife Georgina (Gordon) with the Census Record of 1901. Their children Mary Gordon, William Gordon, Agnes Ness and, Georgina (Lindsay); and Lodger, James (Turner) reside with them at Chapel Letham View Place, in the Town of Inverkeithing, Inverkeithing District, Fife, Scotland[6].
By 1911, we still find the family living at Chapel Letham View Place, in the Town of Inverkeithing, Inverkeithing District, Fife, Scotland. Their children Mary Gordon, William Gordon, Agnes Ness, Georgina, Annie White and John Gordon (Lindsay) also reside with them[7]. In 1931, Thomas and Georgina are living at 6 Herriot Street, in the Town of Inverkeithing, District of Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland. However, at the time of his death in 1938, he is living at 97 Appen Crescent, in the City of Dunfermline, Dunfermline District, Fife, Scotland.
Thomas, over the course of his working life, had numerous occupations, which started in 1881 with him working as an Agricultural Labourer. By the time of his marriage in 1888, he was employed as a Forth Bridge Labourer and in 1891, he was a General Labourer. We find Thomas, in 1901, working as a Foreman Surfaceman and in 1911, he was Gatekeeper for Admiralty W. D.
On the 25 October 1938, Thomas (Mitchell/Lindsay) passes away, at 7.50 am, from Chronic Pancreatic Jaundice. He was 73 years old at the time and his place of death was 97 Appen Crescent, in the City of Dunfermline, Dunfermline District, Fife, Scotland. His son-in-law, William (Lumsden) was present at the death and informant[8].
