Biography

OBITUARY : SHIRLA LOUISE SCOTT, 83, of Sharpsburg, Md., passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born Jan. 9, 1928, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Clara Fisher Line.

Shirla was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Scott, in 1989.

She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville.

She taught physical education at Boonsboro Middle School for more than 30 years until her retirement.

She was a foster mother to multiple children over the course of her life.

Shirla is survived by her son, Roy A. Scott and wife, Cathy, of Sharpsburg; a stepgrandson, Chris Barr and his wife, Dana, of Hagerstown; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Taylor and Seth Barr; and her pet and companion, Daisy.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Virginia Kaetzel; and her brother, Charles O. Line.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg, with the Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will open Monday at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
