Ambrose Lype (aka Lipe) was born September 11, 1829, in Minden, Montgomery county, New York and baptized on 16 May 1830 in Reformed Church at Fort Plain, Minden Township, Montgomery, New York, a son of James Lipe and Nancy Shaver. ^[1]

Ambrose married Anna Margaret/Martha Wagner. ^[2] Ambrose and his wife, "Nancy" Wagner were the parents of children, including:
