William was born in 1859. He was the son of William Littlehales and Anna Reber.[1][2] When he was almost 8 years of age, he had to have a leg amputated due to a rail accident. This was just two weeks prior to the murder of his father, William Littlehales, by the Mollie Maguire gang. [3] He was teaching school in 1880.[4]
He fell from the Aqueduct Bridge which spanned the Potomac River from Washington, D. C. to Virginia, on Saturday, 8 February 1896 and subsequently drowned. "Deceased was thirty-seven years old and a lawyer. He was associate prosecuting counsel in the Mollie Maguire cases in Pennsylvania, about twelve years ago. Five years ago, it is said he had an attack of typhoid fever...He came to Washington four years ago and took up his residence with his mother, brother, and sister."[5][6] He was buried at Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.[7]
