Elizabeth (Lloyd) Clarke was born in Shropshire, England.
Elizabeth was born in 1810 at Morfe Common[1] near Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England, and baptised in Bridgnorth when she was two months old. She was the daughter of John Lloyd and Ann.[2]
On 31 January 1831 Elizabeth married Joseph Clarke in Sedgley, Staffordshire,[3] where the family lived on Can Lane. Joseph worked as a screw-forger.[4][5] They lived on Hurst Hill Road in 1861.[6]
Joseph died in 1867[7] at Can Lane and was buried in Sedgley. He was 58 years old.[8]
By 1871 the rest of the family had moved to industrial north-east England, where they lived in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham. Elizabeth worked as a charwoman.[1] In 1881 she lived alone at 4 Chapel Street, Thornaby, Yorkshire.[9]
At the time of the 1891 census, Elizabeth lived on Welford Street in Linthorpe, Yorkshire, with her married daughter, Martha Darby, and her family.[10]
Elizabeth died later that year at the age of 80[11] and was buried in New Linthorpe Cemetery, Middlesbrough.[12]
