Biography

George Loddiges was an English gardener, artist and naturalist. He was the son of Joachim Conrad Loddiges, a German-born nurseryman, and Sarah (Aldous) Loddiges.

In 1811 he married Jane Creighton in a double wedding ceremony on 17 October 1811. George's brother William married Jane's sister Alice in the same ceremony. [1] George's widowed brother William married Jane's sister Alice in the same ceremony.

Together they became the parents of Jane (Loddiges) Cook (who married the English artist Edward William Cooke), Helena Loddiges, Conrad Loddiges, and Conrad Loddiges.
