Isabella Grant is identified as the mother of William Grant who was baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 4 March 1833.[1] Since neither Isabella or her husband Robert came from Caithness, it is reasonable to assume that the couple were living there for Robert's work.
In 1851 Isabella was living with Robert and most of her children in Loth, Sutherland, at Culgower House, where Robert was the farm manager. A number of agricultural workers were also living on the property.[2]
Records on Ancestry.com indicate that Robert, Isabella and some of their family emigrated to Victoria, Australia, in 1852.
Isabella Grant died 1869, aged 62 years. Her death was registered Maddingley, Victoria, Australia, giving Ayrshire, Scotland, as her birthplace and naming her parents as George Logan and Janet Gibson. Her spouse was recorded as being Robert Grant. [3]
