Biography

Madeleine Lohr was born May 29, 1857, in Westhoffen,^[1] a town in the Alsace region of France, to Jakob Lohr and Margaretha Büttner.

On August 20, 1878, she married Daniel Schwendenmann in Westhoffen.^[2]

They emigrated to the United States in 1884, arriving in New York on October 25 aboard the SS Elbe. ^[3]

They eventually settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the first three of their four children were born,^{[4] [5] [6]}

They then moved to the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston around 1895, where their youngest child was born.^[7] Magdalena was enumerated in the US Federal Censuses of 1900^[8] and 1910^[9] She died August 25, 1913, at home in Boston, Massachusetts, and is buried in Forest Hills Cemetery.^[10]
