Birth
Jane Lunt was born April 26, 1720, Newbury, Massachusetts, daughter of Skipper Lunt and wife Jane (Browne) Lunt. [1]
Marriages and Children
Jane Lunt married 1st Isaac Morse on 22 March 1738 at Newbury and they had the following known children:
- Mary Morse, b. 2 Apr 1740 ; Will probated 1 Jan 1811, Essex County, Mass.
- Humphrey Morse, b. 1 Dec 1743, Newbury, Mass. ; d. 12 Oct 1816, Newburyport, Essex, Mass.
- Phillip Morse, b. 25 May 1755, Newbury, Mass. ; m. 1st 1778, Mary Knowles ; m. 2nd Irene Briggs, 18 Sep 1795, Hallowell, Kennebec, Maine ; d. 18 Feb 1847, Fayette, Kennebec, Maine ; 1776 Revolutionary War soldier
Husband Isaac Morse passed away on the 27th September 1754.
Jane (Lunt) Morse married 2nd Stephen Jackman on the 30th March 1763 at Newbury. Jane and Stephen Jackman had at least one known child:
- Amos A. Jackman, b. abt 1788, Newburyport ; d. 13 May 1861, Boston, Mass.
In her brother's probated Will, proved 10 December 1770, Joshua Lunt, joiner, mentions:
- To Sarah Lunt, one half of [my] household goods and the other half to Elizabeth Morse, wife of Humphrey Morse." Author Davis notes that Sarah Lunt was probably the wife of Joshua's newphew Humphrey Morse, son of Isaac and Jane (Lunt) Morse, born in 1743. [Davis, p. 15] [2]
Death
Jane passed away in 1790, Haverhill, Essex county, Massachusetts.
