Sydney John Robert Lutherborrow was born on 1st March 1912 in Willoughby, New South Wales, Australia. He was the only son of William Lutherborrow and Eva Osborne. [1]
Sydney married Ettie Sugars in 1939 in Hornsby, New South Wales. [2]
On 17th June 1942, Sydney enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force, his nation's all-volunteer expeditionary force for the then ominously close-to-home Second World War. He was posted to the 20th Employment Company and discharged on 10th November 1944 with the rank of Lance Corporal. [3]
Aged 75 years, Sydney passed away on 3rd August 1987 in Glossodia, New South Wales and is buried in Arakoon Cemetery. [4][5] He was survived by Ettie for just a few months.
