Farmer Shot by Night Watchman "WICHITA FALLS, June 20. (/P)— V. A. Lyles, 33, farmer of near Nocona, Texas, was at the point of death at a hospital here Saturday night as the result of two bullet wounds sustained on the streets of Nocona late this afternoon. The shooting occurred in the business district. Olin Roberson, 30, night watchman shot Lyles in self defense after at[----missing---] shot lyles in self defense after attempting to arrest him. Authorities were investigating but no charge had been filed. Both bullets struck Lyles in the neck."

Nocona Man Killed; Officer is charged Special to The News. "NOCONA, Texas, June 21.--V. A. (Gus) Lyles, 38, shot here late Saturday afternoon in an encounter on the street, died early Sundday in a Wichita Falls hospital. Two shots too effect in Lyles' neck. Lyles leaves a wife and five children.
Olin Roberson, night watchman, was charged with murder and released on $3,000 bond. The examining trial will be held Monday at Montague."
