Biography

John was born in 1931 in Saint John, New Brunswick. He was the only child of Ralph MacCready and Emma Chown.

John married Barbara Cooper in June 1957 at Trinity Anglican Church in Saint John. They had one daughter together.

John passed away in 2011 and is buried in Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John.


OBITUARY The passing of retired businessman John A. MacCready of Quispamsis, occurred peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, after a brief illness. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Ralph and Emma (Chown) MacCready. In his career, John was employed with Industrial Acceptance Corporation, Lloyd’s Bank, and The Hong Kong Bank of Canada. John was a member and director of the Rothesay Yacht Club, Hampton Golf Club, and the Goshen Snowmobile Club. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast, passionate about boating, golf, and snowmobiling; as well as, possessing a very special gift with animals. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Jean (Cooper) MacCready, and will be deeply missed by his daughter Beth Dewar, son-in-law Tim Dewar, two grandchildren, Jonathan and Rebecca; as well as, several nieces and nephews. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 2:00 PM, from the chapel of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home. A time of fellowship will take place immediately following the service in the reception facility at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Fernhill Cemetery in the spring. The family would appreciate donations to be made to the Animal Rescue League or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online donations and condolences may be made at: www.kennebecasisfh.com
