John Philip “Jack” MacDonald Sr. was born on November 30, 1906 Brighton, Sussex, England, United Kingdom, the son of Claude MacDonald

Jack married Caroline Anita

He was the father of John P. MacDonald, Jr.

He resided in Coos County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

John served as a Coxswain, USS Ticonderoga (CV-14), U.S. Navy during World War II.

On January 21, 1945, John was declared "Missing In Action" when the Ticonderoga was hit by a Japanese kamikaze in the South China Sea during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
