Archibald, the clerk, or in Gaelic Gilleasbaig Clèireach, was the son of Donald Grumach Macdonald and Margaret MacLeod. Archibald fostered the young chieftan, Dòmhnall Gormeson who was his nephew. To protect him Archibald took Donald Gormeson to live in England until he was an adult.
had two sons, Hugh and Donald. Hugh had a son named Alexander. Nothing more is known of this family.
