After having been in failing health for about two years, Mrs. Maude Blakesley peacefully passed away last Wednesday morning at 10:45 o'clock at her home near Lake Andrew, in Lake Mary township. Mrs. Blakesley had been confined to her bed for a short time, and though the best of care was given her, she could not be spared. Maude Ina Mack was born in McHenry County, Illinois, 26 December 1860 and at the time of her passing she was 68 years, 8 months and 5 days of age. She grew to young womanhood on the home farm in Illinois, and on 13 October 1879 was married to Barney Blakesley. Immediately after their marriage they left for Douglas County, where Mr. Blakesley had been located for about ten years, and had purchased the farm in Lake Mary Township, near Lake Andrew, on which they have since made their home. Mr. and Mrs. Blakesley operated one of the first summer resorts in Douglas County, and their kindness and courtesy to summer visitors had won for them staunch friends from almost every state in the union. Mrs. Blakesley was of a kindly disposition and a woman of many friends. Mr. Blakesley preceded his wife in death 29 September 1922. There are no children. The only survivors are two brothers, J. R. Mack of Libertyville, Illinois, and H. B. Mack of Leavenworth, Kanss. Funeral services were held from the Blakesley home Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. J. R. Davies officiating. The remains were interred in Lake Mary Cemetery beside her husband. Pallbearers: Wm. Fox, M. A. Dubry, Reinhold Roth, Joseph Hounsell, Elvin Pfeffer and F. W. Glade.
