Biography

Jan Mackleen was born about 1750. It is possible that this is the same John Macleen that has military service and land bounty rights. More work needed.

His wife's name, per his will was Mary.

The couple had at least 2 sons and 5 daughters that survived until 1804 when Jan, or John, wrote his will. It is important to note that Jan signed his will as Mackleen, not McLean as indexed.

Jan Mackleen appears in the 1801-1804 taxlist for Kingston, Ulster County, NY and owns real estate.

There were some very early ( Sjarel Mackleen in late 1600's) Mackleens in the Dutch Church of New York and New Jersey and he may be related to those. More work needed.

He passed away about 1813.
