Most MacLean genealogies identify Finvola as a daughter of Lachlan Og but Nicholas MacLean-Bristol in his book, Warriors and Priests (The History of the Clan MacLean 1300-1570, p. 175, thinks that, based on the date of her marriage dispensation, she is more likely his sister.
