Biography

Don Francisco Macías was born about 1765 in Canary Islands, son of Luis Bonifacio Massies (1737–1780) and Maria Tomasa Del Orgaz (1739– ).

Francisco Macías (age 13) traveled with his parents on board the Spanish frigate San Ignacio de Loyola immigrating from Canary Islands to Louisiana, New Spain. His father, Luis Macías, was named as "armed personnel" under the command of Don Felix Francisco de la Ouro. His family sailed with him departing 9 October 1778. They sailed first to Havana and then on to the Port of New Orleans. Francisco's mother, Tomasa DeBorles, his brothers, Miguel Macías (age 17), Josef Macías (age 4) and his sister, Francesca Macías (age 3) traveled with the family. Francisco arrived in 1778 in New Orleans, Louisiana[1]

Francisco married Marie Isabelle Hernandez, daughter of Jean Hernandez, native of and Petronille Hernandez ?Defunte?, native of Aguimes, Canary Islands, September 1797 in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, New Spain. Witnesses, Michel Macías, Joseph Macías, Joseph Macías, Joseph Sanchez. [2]

Francois married Angele Hernandez Sanchez, legitimate daughter of jean Auge Sanchez and Regina Sanchez, natives of Aguimes, Canary Islands in 4 March 1798 in Saint Gabriel (St Gabriel), Louisiana, United States. Witnesses Michel Macías, Jean Hernandez, Jean Suarez.[3] Their children were:

  • Maria Rosa Macías (1803–1803)[4]
  • Maria Beatriz Macías (1805–Deceased)[5]
  • Maria Rose Macías (1808–Deceased)

Francis died on October 20, 1829 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana, United States, aged about 63.[6]
