Henry was born on 2 Dec 1804, and was baptized on 14 Jun 1805.[1][2][3] He was the fourth son of Thomas Maddock of Chester, Cheshire.[4]
He attended St John's College (likely Oxford) and matriculated on 30 Jun 1823. He then attended Brasenose College, Oxford and was ordained as a priest in 1827 and then as a deacon in 1828. He received his curate licenses in 1831 and 1832. After serving as a perpetual curate briefly at Bethnal Green, St John, he became the vicar of Kington, Herefordshire.[5] While he was there, his ordinary was Edward Grey DD (1782-1837), his future father-in-law.[6]
He served as the vicar there for 15 years, whereupon he became the perpetual curate of St John's Wood from 1850 until his death.[7]
Henry married Elizabeth Grey on 18 August 1836.[8][9][10] The 1851 census of England finds Henry living at 3 Loudoun Road, Marylebone, London with his wife Elizabeth and five children. [11] Ten years later, the Maddock family has moved to Boundary House on Boundary Road, Hampstead, London & Middlesex, with his wife and four children present.[12]
He died on 18 Feb 1870 at Hampstead, London.[13][14]
